At Home With PRC, Episode 38

Today, we try a little finesse on the court,  using drop shots.  The drop shot is an effective shot in singles and doubles, especially against a player who is positioned toward the baseline.  Women have a more difficult time than men, running up and back,  because of their center of gravity.  Also, players who use a semi western or western grip have a harder time opening their racquet face to retrieve the drop shot.  Use a continental grip to execute the shot, decrease the backswing and take the ball early.  Applying backspin will help take pace off the ball, especially if you are deeper on the court.  Practice off balls bounced to yourself or with a partner.  Make sure you hit high enough to get a vertical drop.  Loosen the grip and have soft hands !
